Kamal Jafarnia serves as executive vice president of Franklin Square Capital Partners and as chief compliance officer of FS2 Capital Partners (a FINRA-registered broker dealer), Franklin’s affiliated broker dealer acting as the distributor of its offerings. By training, Mr. Jafarnia is an attorney and has been engaged in the financial services industry for more than ten years, most recently as vice president and assistant general counsel for Behringer Harvard, a Real Estate Investment Program Sponsor. At Behringer Harvard, Mr. Jafarnia was the chief compliance officer for Behringer Securities LP, a FINRA-registered broker dealer that distributes the securities offerings of Behringer Harvard-sponsored investment programs. In addition to his regulatory and compliance duties at Behringer Securities, Mr. Jafarnia was responsible for overseeing and coordinating the due diligence processes with the various members of the selling group for product offerings by Behringer Securities.
Prior to Behringer Harvard, Mr. Jafarnia worked as vice president of CNL Capital Corp. and chief compliance officer of CNL Fund Advisors Inc., subsidiaries of CNL Financial Group in Orlando, FL. Before his tenure at CNL, he was president, chief compliance officer and registered principal of a boutique wealth management firm in Las Vegas, NV. In addition, he was vice president of business development for PFPC Worldwide, Inc., and earlier in his career has worked with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc. Before transitioning into the financial services industry, Mr. Jafarnia was an attorney in private practice in Houston, TX, for five years. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor degree from Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia, PA.
